Summer 1996: Internet access is rare, personal e-mail addresses seldom and private websites almost exotic. In order to open up the room for manoeuvre and organisation for us and the activists of the Upper Austrian cultural scene, we organize the first media academy in 1996. The participants learn how to design websites on their own, they experiment with mobile online communication and familiarise themselves with networks.
In the following years the media academy moves to the software park Hagenberg and addresses itself more and more to high-qualified persons involved in the branch of business and information technology. Different forms of electronic marketing, e-learning technologies or strategies for the customer relationship management are realistically tested in the media laboratories. Among the speakers there are noted experts such as the media theorist Norbert Bolz or the Harvard jurist Viktor Mayer-Schönberg.
In 2002 we finish the project media academy together with the Upper Austrian HYPO bank as the main sponsor.
